The Importance of Regular Acupuncture Treatments

“Your gut and your hormones aren’t two separate problems. They’re one conversation – and most women have never been shown how to listen to it.”

– DR. RILEY SMITH

Everybody knows you should see your family physician at least once a year and your dentist at least twice a year. But not everybody knows about acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and the many benefits it can provide for you.  Let’s look at how getting regular acupuncture treatments can help you stay happy and healthy here in San Diego…

This could mean you might start taking a more in depth look at your health, which may allow you to veer away from some of the mainstream medical practices such as multiple pharmaceuticals. I can attest from my own experience providing acupuncture here in San Diego.  Many long-term acupuncture patients find they no longer need all the medications prescribed by their family physician, because the symptoms have been controlled using acupuncture.

Since regular acupuncture treatments can balance hormones and boost immunity, there is a good chance you won’t need that annual flu shot or all those over-the-counter cold medications. I can spot a problem like decreased immunity from a mile away. It can appear as symptoms such as chronic fatigue, insomnia and even body temperature fluctuations. A couple of treatments can make a big difference especially along with Chinese herbal medicine.

This is why its important do do a series of treatments rather than just one every once in a while.  Acupuncture treatments build upon one another over time.  The effects are cumulative rather than just a quick burst.

How about relieving stress?  Many people don’t equate being poked with tiny needles as a relaxation technique, but it truly is relaxing. Many patients actually fall asleep after or while the needles are being placed. Often patients even feel like they are “floating” after a treatment.  And the effects can last for days or even weeks. So the next time you feel irritable and overwhelmed, check out your local licensed acupuncturist.

How can it save your hard earned money if you get acupuncture regularly? If you don’t need as many pharmaceuticals, you will ultimately save money. Also, conditions like stress, anxiety, fatigue and depression can keep you from going to work, possibly costing you several days of pay- thats an often overlooked negative effect. But with regular acupuncture treatments, your moods can be more effectively managed and you won’t need to miss work as frequently- again, Chinese herbal medicine can help greatly with this.

And the most popular reason to get regular acupuncture treatments is that it will help you remain pain free. We all have aches and pains- especially all the weekend warrior athletes here in San Diego. But research has shown acupuncture is more effective than opioids for controlling things like arthritic pain in the joints. It is also be incorporated into hospital emergency rooms throughout the United States, so people don’t need as many pain medications. In fact, when I studied in China they didn’t use pain pills- yes acupuncture was widely used in the hospital to treat pain!

Why wait any longer?  Your whole life just might change for the better. And life is already good here in San Diego!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can gut issues really affect my hormones?

A large share of hormone processing and clearance happens in the gut, so when digestion is under strain, hormone balance often follows.

Why do my labs come back normal when I still don't feel right?

Standard panels are built to flag disease, not the early-pattern shifts that leave you depleted. Reading several systems together is where the answer usually shows up.
