Chinese Herbal Medicine
The Chinese herbal medicine tradition is both ancient and expansive. It blends both art and science by combining thousands of herbs in hundreds of formulas tailored to the needs of each patient. I am proud to be certified as a Chinese Herbalist and carry forward this millennia-old tradition into the present day.
The formulas I use are organic, plant-based and made with U.S.-sourced products. For patient convenience, I prescribe formulas in capsule, tablet or powdered form that taste great and are shipped to your doorstep. All formulas are manufactured in the United States in facilities that comply with all state and federal regulations and adhere to the same best practices as all other pharmaceutical-grade supplement manufacturers.
A Chinese herbal consultation is a complimentary addition to a full acupuncture treatment when appropriate or it can be booked independently as an a la carte telehealth appointment.

Dr. Riley is professional but at the same time warm, kind and compassionate. He skillfully relaxed my upper back muscles with dry needling and cupping. I felt deep relaxation at each appointment, which also helped treat my PTSD from a car accident and brought me back to wholeness. His passion and deep knowledge of acupuncture will erase ANY fear you may have about it and even get you excited about what he does!

Let’s Get to Know Each Other Better
My favorite part of the educational process to become a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine was the hands-on training I received in school. At the start of the six-year doctoral degree, I began working in an on-campus public clinic treating patients in a medically supervised setting. By graduation, I’d spent more than 1,000 hours treating patients, plus hundreds of hours of needle technique classes.
Through my education, I had the valuable opportunity to both perform and experience the hundreds of acupuncture points I learned. It was very important to me to truly understand and feel first-hand what my patients are experiencing.
I have also completed multiple externships at other clinics including the athletic training center at UCSD, Rady Children’s Hospital, low-income homeless and senior clinics and a sports medicine practice here in San Diego. I also studied abroad in a Chinese hospital.
