Hey, we’ve all been there myself included more times than I care to remember! Getting stuck in the planning stage for that next event, passion project, career move, relationship makeover.. whatever it is can be a painful process.
Your intuition knows when it’s time to unleash that creative energy or make a change. If that’s the case then its time to focus on the beginning stages instead of simply how to begin.
Saying “soon” is much easier than “let’s do this!”. Fear of failure (and success) can play tricks on our mind and keep us in our comfort zones. To wait for a fully developed plan keeps us stuck and in a small space. We are so much more powerful than what our fear-based brains want to keep us as. And, in all reality a plan with some grey areas ends up being better because it allows for evolution and adaptation.
The #1 way you and I can reach our goals is through small steps while embracing both trial and error. There is no such thing as failure. “Failure” is nothing more than a cue to course correct. The journey to a more fulfilling life is never about perfection. It’s about humility and using new insights to course correct.
For example, when I have a new patient I carefully take in their personal and medical history. While I may start out with a particular diagnosis it is common for this to change and adapt as I get to know them and their body better.
It’s also the case with clients that come to me for in-depth health coaching and functional medicine. We start off with the chief complaint (usually stress, burnout and physical pain). Then slowly and methodically over time gain clarity with real-time data and make minor adjustments along the way for maximum results over time.
It took me a long time to find this sweet spot in my work with patients. Over time and experience, getting into this flow has allowed me to help so many more people. Often what we find most fulfilling coincides with the best way we can serve others. Each and every one of us has a gift—something that can be used to help others. I believe it is our task- even our sacred responsibility- to figure out what that is and then go boldly into the world to deliver it.
Ignoring our intuition is an incredibly uncomfortable place to be. I did it for decades. Our intuition will let us know that we are ready long before our minds will. Our fear-based mammalian brains want to protect us and will focus on the risk and what we will “lose” while our intuition knows everything and then some that we will gain.
In closing, remember that waiting to go where you want, start that health journey you have been putting off, tell that person you love them, make that career move, extend that apology.. all the right pieces are already in place. It’s just a matter of stopping the cycle of giving your power away to excuses. Using your own resources to make that happen has an attractive energy that will put all the pieces and details in place. You just get to take the leap and jump. I promise you will be caught.
