That’s not a disclaimer. It’s the foundation.
I didn’t arrive here in a straight line. Before this work found me, I spent years in the corporate world — collecting business degrees, chasing a version of success that looked right on paper and felt hollow in practice. I even sat the LSAT. None of it fit. Not because I wasn’t capable, but because none of it was mine.

When I walked into Pacific College of Health and Science in San Diego, I knew within a semester I’d found my calling. A four-year master’s degree. A return seven years later to complete my doctorate. Double Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and trained in Functional Medicine — I built a practice at the intersection of what ancient systems got right and what modern lab work can finally confirm.
For over 20 years and across 16,000 patient visits, I’ve worked with people who had already tried the conventional path — the referrals, the normal labs, the advice to manage stress — and still weren’t well. What I’ve learned is that most of what drives chronic symptoms lives below what a standard appointment is designed to find.
I also learned that the hard way. Years into practice, I hit my own wall — adrenal burnout, the kind I’d been identifying in patients for years. When it happened to me, I had to apply everything I’d been teaching, not as theory, but as survival.
“Living the recovery from the inside changed what I thought I understood about it — not just clinically, but in terms of what people actually need to hear, and what kind of support makes the difference.”
That experience is woven into how I work now. It’s the difference between a practitioner who understands burnout and one who has navigated the recovery firsthand.
I’ve watched it happen in patients who came in convinced it wasn’t possible for them. It starts with understanding what your body has been trying to say — and having a practitioner who knows how to listen.
Most of what drives chronic exhaustion, persistent symptoms, and the sense that something is being missed lives below what a standard appointment is built to find. That’s not a failure of medicine. It’s a gap in the system — and closing that gap is the work.
That’s what I built this practice to be.

I’ve lived and practiced in San Diego’s historic urban core for over 20 years. Outside the clinic, you’ll find me with friends and chosen family out in the garden, out for a run, playing pickleball or flag football, at the beach, somewhere deep in a history book, or watching anything British. I also love hosting a good dinner party and game night too.
Lifelong learning is not a marketing line for me. Travel and exploration are passions of mine along with learning foreign languages. When it comes to reading and classes — whether it’s refining clinical skills in orthopedics, mental health, coaching or internal medicine — I’m always enrolled in something. Ask me about it when you come in.
